Chennai: With several excellent libraries, coaching academies and bookstores around, Chennai is fast emerging as the destination for civil services aspirants from other States.

Generally, the aspirants of various states by and large go to New Delhi to prepare for the civil services competitive examination of this level.

New Delhi has large number of good coaching centers, supported by excellent network of libraries, bookstores and the Union Public Service Commission located there, the city is the destination for many aspirants from various parts of the nation.

Although the government has taken efforts to reach out to the weaker sections of the society making the competitive examination affordable, but in reality obtaining coaching in New Delhi is quiet expensive. It costs few lakh rupees.

As several coaching centers in cities like Chennai have comparatively affordable fee structure and good success rate, aspirants started to come here for coaching.

One of the civil services aspirants from Andhra Pradesh said, 'I have just joined a coaching academy in Chennai. The coaching is effective and availability of required books is good in book shops here.'

The city has shaped around 100 successful candidates in the civil service examination 2008.

With growing success rate in the examination many aspirants opt for Chennai rather than the nations capital city, New Delhi.
