Foundation laid for NIT's permanent campus

Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development D Purandeswari laid the foundation for permanent campus for National Institute of  technology (NIT) here.
The minister said the Centre was according top priority for primary and higher education. "Bringing equity in quality of education, both primary and higher education, across the width and breadth of the country is our goal", she said.
 
"The government has embarked on the mission of ensuring quality education especially in the remote regions of the country," she said, adding the Cenre was making significant financial allocation for the development of education.
 
V. Narayanaswamy, the Union Minister of State for Planning, Personnel and Administrative Reforms  said that formation of NIT here was a major milestone in the development of the region.
 
Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam appealed to the HRD Ministry to sanction one more Kendriya Vidyala for Karaikal and increase the number of seats in the existing institution.
 
He also appealed for regional resrvation for the students of Karaikal in admission to the NIT.
 
The institition is now functioning at the Aringnar Anna Arts College campus here.
