Science quiz

The second edition of ‘Catalyst – Science quiz with a difference' will be held on February 7 at The Music Academy, TTK Road, here. Being organised as part of TheHindu'sNewspaper In Education initiatives, the quiz, for students of classes IX to XII, features a written preliminary round. Six teams would be chosen for the finals, which is to be held on the same day.

Nearly 2,000 students would participate from 200 schools in Chennai and its neighbouring districts.

Schools can send a maximum of five teams of two participants each for the preliminary round scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Winners will get a cash prize of Rs.25,000, first and second runners up will get Rs.15,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively. Three consolation prizes of Rs.5,000 each will be awarded. The quiz is being presented by Sathyabama University. Shriram Chits is the associate sponsor. Appy is the beverage partner and Jeppiar Packaged Drinking Water is the water partner.

Modern Computers, BSA Motors, MBlaze and Vasan Dental care are the prize partners, while Linc Pens and Success Note Books from Seshasayee Paper Boards are the gift partners. NDTV Hindu and Radio One 94.3 FM are the channel and radio partners respectively.

I Ads & Events is the event manager and Giri Pick Brain Balasubramaniam will be the quiz master.
