California university offers to set up facility in AP

Pepperdine University of California has come forward with a proposal to set up educational facilities in Andhra Pradesh.

A nine-member delegation from the University, led by Timothy M Chester, met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy here and submitted the proposal.

Pepperdine, one of the top-20 universities in the world, sought about 600 acres of land on the Nalgonda-Warangal route for setting up its campus with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, a press release from the Chief Minister's Office said.
   
The university would have an intake of 3,000 students besides several exchange programmes in law and engineering.    
 
Established in 1937, Pepperdine has presence in Germany, England, Italy, Argentina and China, apart from the US.
   
Minister for Information Technology, Ponnala Lakshmaiah accompanied the University's delegation.
