Severe action would be taken against those responsible for lapses in the conduct of the State Board's class X and XII examination this year, School Education Department officials were cautioned on Monday.

In a day-long review meeting chaired by School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu at the Union Christian Matriculation School in Chetpet, several aspects regarding the Board examinations in March were discussed in detail.

According to senior officials who attended the meeting, the Department will soon begin gearing up for the examinations by making certain arrangements. The Minister is said to have insisted that the police protection at question paper custodian points be enhanced.

“We were told that the vigilance at examination centres will also be raised to avoid irregularities. Before the commencement of the examinations, heads and teachers will be sensitised to the examination procedures,” said a senior official. Flying squads may also be increased and certain centres where there have been problems earlier will be provided additional security. Secretary to the School Education Department D. Jothi Jagarajan, Director of School Education P. Perumalsamy, Chief Educational Officers, District Educational Officers, Directors and senior officials participated in the meeting.
