Science expo lines up latest in field and more

The fifth science exposition kicked off at the Nehru Science Centre on Thursday. More than 13 scientific and research organisations across the nation are participating in the event to showcase the latest research and developments that are taking place in their respective institutions.

"Science Expoan interface of science and societyis an opportunity for people to get first-hand knowledge about the activities at the various research and development institutions in and around the city. The event also gives institutions a chance to interact with the general public and get their views and reactions on particular experiments.
Science should not remain confined to the laboratories of scientists",said Anil Manekar,director, Nehru Science Centre.
 
Various institutes such as the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Department of Atomic Energy, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Indian Space Research Organisation, National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Tata Memorial Centre and others have participated this year. Lectures on topics such as cancer, environment, nuclear energy, space, geomagnetism, HIV and nanotechnology by leading scientists are also being organized. Besides, competitions and programmes for students, interactive computer multimedia demos will be held.
