State brings out guidelines on nursery admissions

The state school education department has issued a set of guidelines on nursery admissions for the forthcoming year in accordance with the Right to Education Act.

In a directive issued to schools, it has stated that students (who complete three years of age in July) seeking admission to these sections should not be subjected to entrance tests.

In regard to the cost of application fee, it stated application fee should not exceed Rs 50.

The directive also told  that the practice of collecting capitation fee is banned.

Parents seeking admission for their children should not be subjected to questioning about their educational background by school authorities, the directive said.
