The Coimbatore City Police have registered a case against two students of a private college in Kuniamuthur on charges of physical torture and ragging of two first year students.

It is learnt that two second-year students of the private college, hailing from Kerala, had reportedly detained two first year students (both from Thiruvananthapuram) in their room and tortured them. The juniors were forced to consume liquor and smoke cigarettes. The incident took place a couple of months ago.

The victims discontinued their studies and returned to their homes.

The college had also suspended the students. Upset over their wards' plight, the parents preferred a complaint against the senior students.

The police have registered cases against the two seniors under four sections including under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Ragging Act.

The police are on the lookout for the seniors..
