1,643 VIT students placed at Cognizant

IT major Cognizant picked 1,643 students from VIT University, Vellore of 2011 batch at a recent campus recruitment drive. 

Chancellor G Viswanathan, now plans to makes this fete to the Guinness Book of World Records and the Limca Book of Records.

The Chancellor Viswanathan on Tuesday, said, "Cognizant has a long standing relationship with VIT and this is a proud moment for both. Cognizant had given job offers to 1643 students from various streams."

He also expressed confidence that this year they would achieve cent per cent placement for the students.

He said, "Now has the time come for our students to choose their own companies, instead of companies choosing them." As a part of Cognizant’s industry-academy collaboration programme, a new Cognizant-VIT Research Fellowship programme will be kicked off in 2011.

"To begin with, this programme will have four openings for research scholars, who will pursue their fellowship in Cognizant. At the end of the programme, VIT University will award a PhD to successful students", said R Chandrasekaran, President and Managing Director, Global Delivery, Cognizant.
