Capgemini to hire 1,700 additional staff in India in one year

Capgemini BPO, a part of the 8.4-billion euro Capgemini Group which is a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing, said today it's hiring 1,700 new staff in India in the next one year.
Currently, Capgemini BPO has 4,300 employees in India and the hiring will take the total tally to 6,000 by 2011.
 
"This would mean half of Capgemini's BPO workforce will be located in India by next year," said Capgemini Global BPO CEO Hubert Giraud and Capgemini BPO India Head & Vice-President B L Narayan, who today inaugurated its new BPO facility here.
   
The new office is spread over 1,80,000 sq ft on eight floors. It will house 1,500 people.
 
Because of its specialisation, the Capgemini India BPO workforce has a different profile of employees. The talent pool consists largely of commerce graduates and finance professionals, the company said.
   
It has over 100 Chartered Accountants and many aeronautical engineers, MBAs and statisticians. The Group company also hired over 40 chatered accountants from campus this year, many of whom would be placed at Capgemini BPO, the company said.
 
On the business front, globally Capgemini BPO is growing at 25 per cent year-on-year. Currently, a leader in providing finance and accounting services, it has trained its focus on areas such as customer operations and supply chain management in 2011, it was stated.
