Winter school on Microbial Biotechnology

The winter shcool on 'Current Trends in Microbial Biotechnology: Genomics, Diversity and Gene mining' began here today. 
The 21-day winter shcool is being held at the Microbiology, Fermentation and Biotechnology divison of the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT)and is being sponsoredby the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.
 
Dr Toms C Joseph, Scientist (SG), Microbiology, Fermentation and Biotechnology division is the court director at the winter, a CIFT press release said.
 
About 30 participants from various Central Institutes, State Agricultural Universities and other colleges from different parts of the country are participating in the winter
shcool, which aims to provide theoretical and hands on practical training on various aspects of microbial biotechnology to the teachers, researchers and other professionals associated with microbiology and biotechnology in fisheries, animal, agricultural and basic sciences.
 
The participants will get an opportunity to learn about the frontier molecular topics such as recombinant DNA technology, real time PCR, bacterial fingerprinting methods, next generation sequencing, among others.
