Andhra Pradesh government has selected 27,065 candidates in the recent secondary grade teachers' recruitment drive, state Secondary Education Minister D Manikya Vara Prasad said here today.
The government has given appointment letters to 22,231 candidates, while 2275 remained absent for the counselling (the recruitment procedure) conducted last week, he told reporters.

The minister said 2,505 candidates will be given appointment letters when vacancies arise.

The recruitment process is one of the largest teachers' recruitment in the country and Andhra Pradesh is the first state in India which will be maintaining a Teacher-Pupil ratio of less than 1:30 as per the Right to Education Act, 2009, he said.

Quality teaching and learning will be attained in all primary schools in Andhra Pradesh with regular qualified teachers, he said.

The teachers who were transferred during July, 2009 and not relieved from their schools for want of substitutes, would now be relieved for reporting at their new schools as the new teachers have been appointed, Prasad added.
