PG business courses
Curtin Singapore, a unit of Australia’s Curtin University, West Australia’s biggest varsity, has launched three post-graduate business courses for Indian students in Singapore. The programmes: Master of International Business, Master of Finance and Graduate Certificate in Finance, will train candidates to be business leaders. “Singapore is a very important strategic location in the global markets today and the banking and finance hub of Asian markets,” Curtin Singapore Marketing and Admissions Director, Jeremy Histon said.

New law to curb unauthorised entry
New Zealand will put in place a new law to curb the unauthorised entry of foreigners. The law which comes into effect from November 29, states among other things, that education providers enrolling those students who are not entitled to study in New Zealand would face increased penalties. Education providers that have online application systems will need to update their norms and it is important that overseas students always need to hold a visa that allows them to undertake their proposed course of study.

The single term “visa” will be used to authorise a foreigner to travel and stay in New Zealand. Terms such as “permit” and “exemption” will no longer be used.

Ayurveda hospital accredited
As accreditation has been made compulsory for traditional medical hospitals, the health ministry gave accreditation to the first Ayurveda hospital in the national capital — ‘AyurVAID’. The government is trying to promote alternate and traditional medicines under the department Ayush, which covers Ayurveda, Yunani, Siddha and Homeopathy. According to officials, the step has been taken to ascertain the standard of health care in hospitals practicing traditional medicines.
