The TN government has conducted common entrance examination for students in professional degree courses, private unaided universities. Some top universities have already conducted the tests and declared the results.

One of the world-class private universities had conducted entrance examination for about 1.5 lakh students not only in India but in Dubai also.

But academicians feel that such common tests are conducted just to make money, as application forms cost Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.

'If thousands of students collect application forms, varsities can mint crores of rupees in no time,' they said.

They suggested that it was high time a common admission system was introduced among all private universities.
