Gitam signs MoU with BARC

Hyderabad: GITAM University entered into a MoU with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) to take up environmental impact of industries around the proposed BARC campus at Atchutapuram near the city.

According to the MoU, BARC representatives would cooperate with GITAM University’s project team during the quarterly sampling of environmental matrices. BARC would participate in the data analysis and allow GITAM students who are working in the project to use the data for their PhD degree.

GITAM University Institute of Science is responsible for coordinating with general public for getting necessary information and environmental samples for this project. Vice-chancellor M Gangadhara Rao hoped that this project would bring out the research qualities of GITAM faculty and enhance the quality of research in this region.

This is the third research project sanctioned by BARC to GITAM, said GITAM Institute of Science Principal N Laxmana Das. This entire project costs Rs 15.89 lakh and payment will be made to GITAM in three phases.

BARC – Health Safety & Environment Group Director HS Kushwaha and GITAM University Registrar PM Valli signed the MoU in the presence of Prof Gangadhara Rao. As part of the MoU, a Project Execution Committee (PEC) has been formed, consisting of GITAM Institute of Science.
