Kovai institute selected for Indo-US collaboration

Coimbatore: Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology in Coimbatore has been selected under the Indo-US Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) programme.

The IUCEE has been launched by the American Society for Engineering Education, along with PAN-IIT and Academic and Business leaders from leading US and Indian universities. This collaboration is aimed at making engineering education and research more relevant to the needs of global society and to the aptitude and aspirations of new generation of youth, according to an institute release. This would help in building the next generation technical workforce using new paradigms, and a series of workshops at 2009 Indo-US Engineering Faculty Leadership Institute (FLI), is being organised from June 22 to July 10 at Infosys, Mysore Centre.

IUCEE has raised more than Rs 3 crore from personal donation for conducting 24 workshops for 600 participants at the 2009 FLI.

Considering the competencies and commitment, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology has been selected as one of the 100 colleges across India, and four faculty members would participate in the FLI, the release said.
