Hyderabad varsity, NAARM join hands for course on agriculture

The University of Hyderabad and the National Academy of Agricultural Research and Management (NAARM) here have joined hands to start a Post Graduate Diploma in Technology Management in Agriculture through distance mode.

"The aim of the course is to build the skills of students, researchers, Intellectual Property and technology transfer practitioners as professionals to enable them to successfully hold executive positions in intellectual property and technology management assignments in agriculture and related industries," P K Joshi, Director of NAARM, told reporters here today.

The admission into this Post Graduate Diploma in Technology Management in Agriculture will be taken up by the NAARM.

The Post Graduate Diploma programme will commence from January 1, 2011 and will complete by December 2011. The programme will be offered in two semesters - January to June and July to December.

The University of Hyderabad and NAARM would jointly award the degree to the students upon completion of the PG Diploma programme, UoH Vice Chancellor Syed Hasnain said.

The fee of the course is Rs 20,000 per year. Joshi said his institute planned to open an international school in Intellectual Property Rights. The NAARM was established in Hyderabad in 1976 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to fulfill the need for an institution of management in agricultural research and education.
