Two centres of excellence to be set up in Haryana

Two Centres of Excellence on DNA testing and research and application would be set up in Haryana.
   
While the DNA testing and diagnostic facilities for research and application will be set up at the Centre for Plant Biotechnology , Hisar, a Renewable Energy Test Centre would come up at Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal.
   
Both the Centres will be set up by the Department of Science and Technology.
   
A spokesman of the Department said that DNA testing and diagnostic facility for Research and Application Centre would be set up at a cost of about Rs 2.34 crore and Renewable Energy Test Centre at a cost of Rs one lakh.
A Science City was also proposed to be set up at Sampla, he added.
   
He said the Department had also introduced Science Talent Search Scheme under which Rs 500 per month was given to the top 1,000 selected students in class IX and X and Rs 1,500 per month in XI and XII.
