College of Military Engineering gets NAAC accreditation

The College of Military Engineering (CME) at Pune has been awarded an 'A' Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an
autonomous organisation established by the UGC.
 
The Council assess the standard of institutions and awards gradings based on its evaluation.
 
CME, a technical and tactical training institution of the Indian Army's Corps of Engineers, had volunteered for assessment and accreditation by the NAAC.
 
A team of the NAAC, comprising of Prof A Sridharan (Chairman), Former Deputy Director and Adviser, IISc Bangalore; Dr H S Shan, former Prof Emeritus, IIT, Roorkee; Dr Gautam Sanyal (Member) and Prof and Dean (AA and Resource
Generation), recently visited the college.
 
It reviewed quality training, information technology and e-learning standards, innovations, project reports submitted by student officers undergoing B.Tech in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical engineering and checking of various other documents.
 
The team also interacted with students and staff/faculty members imparting the training, a Defence spokesperson said.
 
Lt General S S Sengupta, VSM, Commandant, CME said, "Accreditation by NAAC will be an important step towards our drive for excellence and reaffirms the fact that CME is one of the premier technical and tactical training institution of the
country."
 
CME has a role encompassing training, advisory, projects and research and experimentation for the Combat Engineers, Military Engineering Service (MES), Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and Survey.
 
The college has various faculties and wings, which conduct combat and technical training for personnel of the Corps of Engineers, other arms and services, Navy, Air Force, paramilitary forces, police and civilians. Personnel from friendly foreign countries are also trained in CME.
 
The College is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
 
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) also recognises the engineering degree courses run by CME. The college regularly invites eminent speakers to deliver talks on subjects of military importance, general topics of interest and technical subjects.
