10 students injured after caning from teacher

Ten students of a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) school here suffered injuries after being beaten by their teacher for making noise in the classroom. The students of Class 3 in the MCD school, New Ashok Nagar, in east Delhi were beaten with a cane by Raj Kumar Wednesday, a police officer said.

"The children suffered injuries on head and other body parts and were taken to the hospital by school authorities. All of them are out of danger and were discharged after treatment," the officer said.

Kumar, 40, was later arrested by the police following a complaint of parents of the children.

According to the police, Kumar confessed that he beat up the students as despite his several requests they continued to make noise in the classroom.
