CAT 2010 to be a 20-day affair

Updated on: Sunday, September 12, 2010

This year, the responsibility of conducting the Common Aptitude Test -- CAT 2010, lies on the shoulder of the Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow.

"It's a pleasure to have given the opportunity to conduct the big shot, CAT 2010 to us. With several changes made this year, the focus is on to provide maximum transparency and all required information to keep the candidates out of trouble," said convener CAT, Himanshu Rai.

CAT 2010 will be held over a period of 20 days with two slots per day. "This will give more options to students and they can choose date and time according to their convenience. It will also give more time to the organisers to fix up the technical glitch well in advance. More days to assure a good standard of paper and transparency to keep the level of the test,'' feels Bharat Gupta, a maths teacher in a known management training centre in the city.

One thing that Rai continuously stressed upon is the CAT 2010 - registration guide. The 16 page guide is must for all candidates before filling up the online CAT form. It is a detailed brochure that gives an overview of how to obtain a voucher, fill up the online forms, things that are mandatory, how to create a profile and others. "Problems occur only when students do not read the instructions and try to do things on their own,'' added Rai.

In this regard, all test centres that do not have proper infrastructure have been removed from the list. "A list of 33 centres in the country have been identified to conduct the test peacefully,'' said Rai. Also, the IIM team, in charge of organising the test will be present at various centres three weeks prior to the test. "This way we will get time to settle everything on our own,'' claimed Rai.
