The Aviva Great Wall of Education

One of the major factors that will determine the future of this country is education and for that we need to send and keep children in school. Statistics show that about 59 million children in India do not go to school. Add to this the number of dropouts and that will tell you what a big issue this is. On September 5, as India celebrates Teacher's Day, The Hindu and Aviva Life Insurance come together to launch the largest ever Book Donation Drive for underprivileged children in Chennai: ‘The Aviva Great Wall of Education”. The Hindu is wholly committed to education for all and the Newspaper in Education (NIE) programme is testimony to this.

You too can be a part of this. All books that you donate will be used to educate thousands of underprivileged children across the state. This venture is supported by the Tamil Nadu government's Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and NGO's Save the Children and Vidyarambham. The unusable books will be recycled and converted to notebooks.

So bring forth your books. Help underprivileged children You too can make a difference in many lives.
