Over 1 lakh students apply to IP University

New Delhi: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has received more than 1.6 lakh applications for about 15000 seats offered in various courses this year.

BBA and BTech courses are currently the most popular courses receiving 64,947 and 24,606 applications respectively.

Other courses such as Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication, BEd and BCA have received much lesser applications comparatively.

The University has also announced that it would introduce new courses like Masters of Journalism and Mass Communication and MBA in Banking & Insurance, Real Estate, Disaster Management, IT and others.

Batches for these courses will be conducted on weekends only.

Eight regular programmes in MTech and also three super speciality medical courses will also be initiated soon.

The application forms for these courses will be available till first week of July.

"New Courses like BSc in Ayurveda, Yoga and Natural Sciences, Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Pathology and MTech in Tool Engineering will also be introduced soon," said Prof Dilip K Banyopadhyay, new Vice-Chancellor of the University.

OBC quota will also be implemented for the very first time this year.
