VITian enters Limca book of records for his pi-poem

Sandeep Joshi, an alumnus of the VIT University has made his university proud by entering the Limca Book of Records for his research on the Mathematical constant “Pi.”

Mr Joshi who hails from Udaipur in Rajasthan completed his B.Tech (biotechnology) at the VIT University during 2007 and is currently working in Cognizant, Chennai.

He has the ability to remember over 10,000 digits after the decimal of 'Pi'. Sandeep has developed an algorithm, the pi poem that facilitates easy recall of value of Pi up to 132 digits after the decimal.

Right from his school days, Sandeep was interested in Mathematics, which made him achieve great laurels in life today. Sandeep has the ability to remember over 400 years according to the order of the calendar.

He has written a book on Vedic Mathematics to help students prepare for IITs, IIMs and civil service examinations.

Sandeep is fondly known as the 'memory guru' back home. He has conducted several workshops on memory improvement and mathematics, and his interest in Java, a computer language made him develop and launch a website www.javagenious.com.

Sandeep's aspires to be listed in the Guinness book of world records for memorizing the maximum digits of 'Pi' after the decimal, recalling the entire value in a short duration.

VIT Chancellor Mr G. Viswanathan appreciated Sandeep's talent and said that all students should take Sandeep as their role model and take the university to greater heights.

VIT Pro-Chancellor Mr Sekar Viswanathan said that India needs more youngsters like Sandeep who will make India proud with their abilities.

VIT Pro-Chancellor Mr G.V. Selvam congratulating Sandeep said that he should do service to the society by disseminating his knowledge to others so that India will have thousands of Sandeep in the future, which will help the country to fight with knowledge at the global level.
