TN CM to open medical college

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will inaugurate the Government Medical College here on July 27, State Dairy Development Minister U Mathivanan said.

After inspecting the function venue, Mathivanan said the first admission card would be given to a student at the function. Meanwhile, the letter of permission had come from the Medical Council of India for starting the college this year.

Classes will begin on August one. The State Government had allocated Rs 100 crore for establishing the institution.

As many as 100 students will be admitted to the college. Already an outpatient ward and a 300-bed hospital were functioning in the Medical College Complex, near the Collectorate, according to official sources.
