574 engineering graduates get offer letters

A total of 574 engineering graduates, selected in Anna University's campus recruitment-2010, received offer letters from major software companies.

The state level Placement Programme was conducted by the Anna University-Chennai through its Centre for University Industry Collabotarion (CUIC), looking after placement of students passing out of affiliated colleges.
  
The offer letters were given by three compaines -- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) and Computer Science Corporation (CSC). University Vice-Chancellor P.Maanr Jawahr distributed the offer letters to the seleted candaidates in the presence of senior excutives from the three recruiters here yesterday.
  
Giving a word of advice to the young graduates, Jawahar said recruiting companies expected students to posses good "KASH" (knowledge, attitude, skill and habit). It was also important to acquire soft skills/communication skills, he said.
  
He said only a few thousand students were getting selected in the placement programme while 85,000 students passed out of 454 engineering colleges in 2009-10. Anna Unversity-Chennai would take all steps to get "core campanies" for campus recruitment and secure jobs for students of all branches.
  
"Right now the software campanies are major recruiters. We will apporoach other companies too so that students of non-IT branches could also get campus placement opportunity,"  he said.
