Fully-paid scholarships for meritorious students: Vel Tech

Under Mahatma Gandhi scholarship schemes, the  Vel Tech University offers  Rs. 5 crore for out performing students this year all over India.

The top three applicants in each State will get total exemption regardless of any other factors, says Vice-Chancellor Rangarajan Mahalakshmi.

The first three plus-two toppers from each State applying for engineering at Vel Tech  will obtain fully-paid scholarships . Also one topper from each Union Territory will get the scholarship. Tuition, hostel and boarding fees  will be taken care for all four years of their education.

The 78 scholarships will be distributed to students independent of their financial ability or the courses they choose.

Moreover,  100 applicants will receive 50 per cent coverage of their fees if they score 90 per cent average in the mathematics, physics and chemistry examinations. The deadline for submission of application is April 30 and all applicants must take the Vel Tech All India Engineering Entrance Examination on May 10.

According to Director K.V.D. Kishore Kumar, last year over 85,000 students nationwide participated in Vel Tech's placement events and 99 per cent of the institutions eligible students were offered jobs (1,000 offers) in leading companies including Tata, Reliance and Infosys (in total 3,000 job offers were made).

The Vel Tech City of Education has a technical university, two engineering colleges affiliated to Anna University, four business schools, a nursing college and a physiotherapy college, a polytechnic college, and a matriculation and international school. It has a total of 12,000 students.
