Updated on: Friday, July 09, 2010

Counselling for the five-year BA-BL degree course in law colleges under the Dr Ambedkar Law University began yesterday.

Out of the total 2,634 applications received for 1,052 seats in law colleges in the State, 237 were rejected. Dhyana from Coimbatore had recently claimed that she had a cutoff of 96 per cent, but her name was not included in the top rankers list.

"The girl came late and we cannot hold back the distribution of allotment orders for her. She was anyway accommodated later," a university official present at the counselling venue said.

Meanwhile, about 5,516 candidates have been called for engineering counselling, so far, out of which 4,612 candidates have been allotted seats. The total number of students who absented themselves from counselling was 889. "This year the number of absentees have reduced owing to the first graduate scheme," TN engineering admissions secretary Rhymend Uthariraj said.
