Special ITI classes for minority students in Maharashtra

In an effort to increase participation of minority community students in mainstream education, Maharashtra Government has started special training
classes for them in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).


"The minority community students can enrol themselves for various courses of ITIs across the State from the current academic year," Minority Development Minister, Naseem Khan, said.

The special classes would be conducted in 44 ITIs in second shift from August 1, and over 3,000 students would benefit from it, he said. The Government has made provision of Rs five crore for the classes, the minister said, adding, Mumbai and suburban Mulund would have two new ITIs.

The Ministry is also planning to reserve 40 seats in IAS coaching institutes in the cities like Mumbai, Nagpur,  Kolhapur and Aurangabad for the students, Khan said.
