Updated on: Friday, March 20, 2009

The big day: Reach the test centre 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the test and remember to take a valid identification.

So far, we have been discussing the advantages of business studies at the global level and the significant strategies for excelling ourselves in the GMAT. Let us now look at the further steps for appearing in the test and ensuring that our scores reach the institutions of our choice at the right time in the admission process. .

Registration

How do we proceed to register for the test? Where do we start? When do we start? What are the formalities? How much money should we spend?

The objective of gaining scores in GMAT is to secure admission to one of the good business schools. So we should gather details about the admission in the schools of our choice and make GMAT appointment early enough to ensure that our score reports reach the schools before the deadlines. It may be remembered that the testing authority reports our scores directly to the programmes or institutions we specify.

After we finish the test, we can get a score report, but this is unofficial. Business schools will normally require direct reports from the testing authority. It may take up to 20 days for the official reports to reach the schools. We need not wait till we finish our test preparation for initiating steps for registration. The test appointments may fill up quickly. Do not wait till the eleventh hour for registration; we may not get the desired appointment. Registration can be done several months in advance. For registering, we can choose a test centre and obtain test appointment online, by phone, fax or mail.

In India the centres include Kochi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Patna, Bhopal, Allahabad and Ranchi
