Ansari to open Bio-tech centre at Kannur University

Vice-President Hameed Ansari will inaugurate Inter University Centre for Bio Sciences (IUCB), at the Kannur University here on July 10.
 
The IUCB, that would facilitate researches in the bio-technology field would be opened at the University's Mangattuparamba campus,  Vice-Chancellor Michael Tharakan told reporters here today.

The University is planning to acquire 25 acres of land to set up a dedicated research centre in the bio-technology and micro-biology and experts from the Indian universities and those from abroad would visit the University to carry out
their studies, Tharakan said.

The University had entered into a tie up with France-based Paul Cezanne Faculte-def-Sciences-de St Jerome France to joinly carry out researches in the emerging bio-technology and to facilitate exchanges of students of both the universities
in the subject, he said.

The University would commence one year Post Graduate Diploma course in drug discovery and designing course at its Palayad campus, he said.
