Chennai: Opposing to fee hike parents of students in 20 city schools have joined up to struggle out by launching an association.

Members of the Education System Revamp and Protection Association, set to move to the court, after witnessing that the schools receive 50 per cent fee hike for this year.

Parents are unhappy about the fee hike in popular schools such as SBOA School in Anna Nagar, Velammal and DAV, Gopalapuram.

The Senior Principal of SBOA Matriculation School Rajeshwari Menon said that the decision to hike fees by 50 per cent was taken at the school trust's general body.

A parent said, 'We were informed about the hike through a slip. The school authorities did not meet any parent representative.'

Another parent was told to either pay or remove the child from the school. 'Why should the school hike fee by 50 per cent when it collects development funds, teachers, pension funds and donations? Are these not enough to cover for the Sixth Pay Commission, the reason cited for the hike?' asked another parent.
