MSSW to start new courses

Updated on: Tuesday, June 22, 2010

The Madras School of Social Work (MSSW) is planning to start a few new courses and introduce additional batches for in-demand courses.

An M.Sc. programme in applied psychology is among the new courses that will shortly be launched, says C. D. Jose, who was recently elected MSSW president. A PG diploma in Social Work is also on the cards as an evening programme.

The institution, established in 1952, is also planning to launch an additional batch of its flagship programme, the M.A. in Human Resources Management. “The additional batch is being introduced to meet the increasing demand,” Mr. Jose said.

The MSSW already operates two batches in the Master of Social Work programme in the aided and the self-financing categories.

Meanwhile, an MBA programme is also in the pipeline. The proposal is at present under the consideration of the All India Council for Technical Education, Mr. Jose said.
