Chance to study engineering in England

Students of affiliated engineering colleges of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur now have the privilege of going to England to pursue their B.Tech. and B.E. degree and also enjoy the unique distinction of possessing dual degree certificates from both the countries, thanks to the initiative undertaken in this regard by JNTUCA Vice-Chancellor Krishna Gandhi.

A memorandum of understanding had been signed by the JNTUCA Vice-Chancellor Krishna Gandhi with the Representative of the University of Portsmouth Dr. Jasper Graham Jones recently. The agreement with Portsmouth University enables students to pursue their B.Tech. or B.E. degree in Portsmouth, England.

As per the understanding, a student who completed his second year in B.Tech. or B.E. in any of the JNTUCA affiliated colleges is required to join in the second year of engineering in Portsmouth University.

In Portsmouth University, the tenure of the engineering course is three years while it is four years in India.

By joining the second year course in England, the Indian students will be studying for four years, two years in India and England each.

Placement

The Indian student who joins in second year in Portsmouth will be given internship in Industry and subsequent to the completion of the course, placement for the student will be organised as part of the agreement.

Only the second year student is extended the privilege. A third year student also can join in third year in Portsmouth but the placement privilege is confined to only second year students.

IELTS

Students craving to pursue their education in England should be qualified in International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Those who do not have the IELTS qualification should have scored 70% marks in English in intermediate . The students will be permitted to undertake jobs at the rate of 200 pounds earnings per month. The student will be allowed to work for 12 hours only in a week. The last date for sending of applications is July 31, 2010. The student should be possessing a passport while visas are arranged by the University of Portsmouth. Classes would commence in Portsmouth University from September 28, 2010.
