Automatic pass upto class 8 in Pondy

As part of implementing the Right to Education Act-2009, Puducherry Administration has ordered all schools including privately run institutions and aided schools in the Union Territory to grant automatic pass to all children from Class I to VIII to the next higher class.
  
Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, who is in charge of School Education, issued orders in this regard directing the schools to promote all children during the academic year 2009-2010, an official release said here.
 
The government had also asked schools not to issue transfer certificates to students against the wishes of parents.
