Ways to become software engineers

Graduates in engineering especially in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication have much scope to become a software engineer by obtaining adequate training or additional higher qualifications like M.Tech. software engineering or a postgraduate diploma in software development . The computer science department of certain engineering colleges/ institutes offers ME / M.Tech. degree programmes in software engineering.

Delhi Technological University, Delhi - 110042 ( www.dce.edu) offers M.Tech. degree in software engineering (18 seats).

Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi – 835215 ( www.bitmesra.ac.in) offers ME degree in software engineering.

Noorul Islam University, Kumaracoil, Kanyakumari ( www.niceindia.com) also offer postgraduate courses in engineering disciplines.

GATE score is essential for admission to most of the institutions. Postgraduate diploma in system software development is also a suitable course and is offered by DOEACC Centre, Calicut and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). Integrated five-year M.Sc. courses in software engineering is also offered at some universities for students who have passed Plus Two in science group.
