Compulsory Medical examination at schools: Renuka Chowdhury

New Delhi: React ing to the shocking incident of 12 student died of an asthmatic attack in a school Women and Child Development Minister Renuka Chowdhury recommended compulsory health checks in schools.

'We must be cautious and periodical health checks should be made compulsory in all schools. We should give quality education and education with human face for saving our children,' said Chowdhury.

Aakriti Bhatia, a student of Modern School, Vasant Vihar, suffered an asthmatic attack in school Monday and died on the way to hospital.

'We will file a police complaint against the school authorities for their negligence. Had Aakriti been rushed to hospital on time, she would have survived,' said Vipin Bhatia, Aakriti's father.

The school principal Goldy Malhotra, however, refuted these allegations and said: 'We don't agree that there was negligence on our part. The school has always been taking care of the students and we have a nurse to attend to any medical emergency.'
