Aiming to develop creative skills among students Sarva Shik-sha Abhiyan (SSA) conducts summer school for students of primary and upper primary classes during the summer vacation.

The concept will be introduced in 45,000 government schools across the state, of which 500 schools will be in Hyderabad.

The classes focus on essay writing, painting and elocution. Starts from May 1 to June 10. Meanwhile, the state government has declared summer vacation for schools from April 24 to June 11.

According to officials of the SSA, the summer schools will not stress the students during the vacation as classes will be conducted only from 8 am to 11am. One hour will be allotted daily for creative activities and cultural programmes.

'The summer classes will help us to improve the performance of students in government schools. It has been observed that majority of the students in these schools forget additions and substractions during summer vacation. Basic maths will be taught for one hour every day,' said Mr G.Srinivas Reddy, SSA project officer.

The summer classes will be conducted for students from Class I to VIII.
