Bhagat at BIBS

Kolkata: Students at Bengal Institute of Business Studies (BIBS) have circled March 6 on their calendars and put reminders on their mobiles. The 2 pm session is one that they will not want to miss. If they do, it could be one of the mistakes of their lives.

“It’s the first time that Chetan Bhagat is coming to an institute in Eastern India,” says BIBS chairman, Vidur Kapoor, adding that the students are “very excited”.

Bhagat’s visit is part of a management-inspired series at BIBS where successful people are invited to share their experiences.

But how was Bhagat chosen? “We wanted someone students could identify with. Chetan had the ideal background. He’s got a degree from IIT Delhi and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. He has the right mix of academics and work experience,” explains Kapoor.

Bhagat will speak to students on how to optimise their b-school education. Students will get to hear about what the author learnt from his MBA education and how he is applying those lessons to his own life.

It is hoped that the talk will inspire students. “Chetan is also doing his own thing. Students will be able to relate to him,” says Kapoor.

The afternoon session, which is for BIBS students only, will be an interactive one.

Bhagat will also be addressing a free public session at Vidya Mandir from 5 pm on March 6, which is organised by BIBS in association with The Times of India.
