Mah Governor appoints Vice Chancellors of 4 universities

Mumbai : Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan today appointed Vice Chancellors of the University of Pune, Shivaji University, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University.
Dr Namdeo Pawar, Professor and Head, Department of Geology, University of Pune, was appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Dr Raghunath Shevgaonkar, Deputy Director and Professor of Electrical Engineering, IIT Mumbai was named as the Vice Chancellor of University of Pune.

The Governor also appointed Dr R Krishnakumar, former Principal, Dr Ambedkar College, Nagpur as the Vice Chancellor of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik and Dr Raju Mankar, Director, Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur as the Vice Chancellor of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, in Raigad District.

The appointments were made by the Governor following interaction with each one of the candidates recommended by the respective Search Committees. The interactions with the candidates for Vice Chancellors were held by the Governor personally on February 23 and 24 and the best among the candidates were selected on merit as Vice Chancellors.

The appointment of Vice Chancellors of the Universities mentioned above shall be for a period of five years and will come into effect from the date they will assume charge of the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
