Bharatidasan Varsity to get IP cell shortly

Chennai: After the success of the IP (Intellectual Property) cell in Madras University, another cell will be initiated in Bharatidasan University and other Universities.

The patent cell in Madras University was taken care from June 2007 by Patent Information Centre (PIC) set up by Tamil Nadu State council for science and Technology, said S. Vincent, member-secretary of the Council.

So far, five workshops were conducted and the Council had helped in drafting of a few patents.

As the IP cell would be inaugurated on April 24 in Bharatidasan University, an IP cell would start functioning in Madurai Kamaraj University from June and in Manonmaniam Sundaranar and Bharathiyar University from July.

IP cells would be inaugurated in technical universities too by the councils, he said.
