World Schools Debating Championship

Chennai: Five students from Chennai will represent India for the third time in the World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) in Qatar from February 8 – 18, 2010.

The event is part of Ramco Systems corporate social responsibility programme.

Five potentials have been shortlisted by Coach Andrew Fitch who was in India in December 2009.
 
Out of 10 schools which participated in the selection process, Aditi Aggarwal (team leader), Madhulika S and Chetana (Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Sr Secondary School, K K Nagar), Sanchith Shivakumar and Siddarth Shrikanth (Bala Vidya Mandir) are selected to represent the Indian team from Chennai. The co-ordinators who will accompany the team in Qatar are:
 
·         Rama J Sudev from Arsha Vidya Mandir
·         Krishna Kumar from Bala Vidya Mandir
 
Sayeqa Islam, who is well known in the World Schools Debating Championship circuit, will accompany the team in Qatar.  “We have thoroughly prepared ourselves, and our strategy is to meet the competition one level at a time,” she said.
