BHEL course in industrial health

The National Model Centre for Occupational Health Services, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, has invited applications for a three-month full-time Post-Graduate Certificate Course in Industrial Health (Associate Fellow of Industrial Health), commencing on April 1.

In a press release, A.K. Ganguli, Deputy General Manager - Occupational Health Services, BHEL, Tiruchi, said the course is primarily meant for doctors who want to equip themselves with knowledge in Occupational Health which could prevent occupational and work-related diseases in industry.

The course is compulsory for all doctors working in industries involving hazardous operations and processes as per the Factories Act, and also as per the Factories Rules of all States in India. This course will open up new frontiers for fresh and young doctors who aspire to become industrial medical officers.

Successful candidates will be awarded AFIH which will fulfil the requirements in terms of additional qualification of Factory Medical Officers of Hazardous Process Industries as required under the Factories (Amendment) Act, 1987 anywhere in India. Eligibility for admission: 1. MBBS degree from an institution recognised by the Medical Council of India. 2. Completion of Internship. 3. Permanent Registration with the State Medical Council/Medical Council of India. 4. Minimum one-year experience in Industry/Occupational health-related work or 2 years in general practice after completion of internship. Last date for the receipt of applications is February 20.
