Skill development through community colleges

Coimbatore:  A two-day workshop on 'Skill Development though community colleges in apparel design and manufacturing,' is being organised here from Dec 29.

The workshop, jointly organised by Sardar Vallabhhai Patel Institute of Textile Management here and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre, Madurai, would attempt to make the garment industry globally competitive and bring awareness in internationally proven skilled practics, an institute release said today.

An IGNOU programme study centre would also be inaugurated at the Institute by IGNOU vice-chancellor, Prof V N Rajasekaran Pillai, it said adding 60 participants are expected to participate in the workshop.
