With what was supposed to be IGNOUs first attempt for online admissions through the IGNOU Engineering Aptitude Test (IGNEAT), has now been deferred to December 27, 2009, and will not be conducted online.

According to the university officials, the exam would be conventional “ Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) based.

Following server failure, the online admission test for IGNOUs full-time engineering programme had to be cancelled on October 31.

Aspirants faced the same glitches as their counterparts during Common Admission Test (CAT), the servers failed to respond just after they attempted the first two questions of the exam.

The test had been outsourced to Chennai-based Sri Angala Parameshwari Education Trust. However, the sources reveal that the university already had in its mind to drop its plans to have an online test this year and fall back on the conventional OMR-based system.
