SCMS introduces new courses

SCMS-Cochin is introducing two more PGDM programmes in insurance and banking and in retailing and merchandising.

The B-School already offers a number of PGDM programmes in areas such as finance, marketing, HR, logistics, production, systems, and hospitality. The PGDM course in insurance and banking is meant to cater to the needs of the insurance sector, which has been witnessing rapid growth. This programme will offer 60 seats to begin with. The PGDM course in retailing and merchandising will help train managerial personnel for the retail sector which has witnessed big expansion as well as the advent of international players.

Both these courses have been sanctioned by the AICTE, said a press release from the institution.

Degree holders with 50 per cent marks in the aggregate and final year degree students are eligible to apply. Those who have CAT scores and those appearing for MAT in February and May and ATMA and XAT also can apply now. Test scores can be furnished later. Medical, pharmacy, dental, veterinary and agricultural and engineering degree holders, chartered accountants and cost accountants also are eligible to apply. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a group discussion and interview at Cochin, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Calcutta, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Classes are expected to commence in July 2010.
