TCS to groom quality researchers

Updated on: Monday, December 07, 2009

Concerned over the growing scarcity of quality faculty pool in the country, which is key for grooming talented workforce particularly in professional education institutions, the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has decided to fund doctoral research in reputable institutions to encourage quality academic research.

The company will fund doctoral research to be taken up by 200 students at Ph.D level over a period of five years with 40 students every year. Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the company N. Chandrasekaran announced this at the two-day annual academic session of TCS called “Sangam” with the faculty of engineering and management colleges from across the country at Hyderabad recently.

The core objective of TCS fellowships would be enhancing the quality of emerging workforce by supporting students, faculty and institutions, Mr. Chandrasekaran noted.

Such an initiative would also help the TCS in its talent acquisition in the long run, he hoped.
