Updated on: Thursday, November 26, 2009

Jammu:  Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today called for a special attention in personality development along with academic excellence of students in educational institutions.

'To prepare students to shoulder future challenges of life, we have to focus on the development of their personality while concentrating on academics', Abdullah said while addressing students and staff of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), about 192 kms from here in Rajouri district.

The reputation of the educational institutions gets a fillip by the laurels students bring for these institutions, Abdullah, who is also the chancellor of BGSBU, said.

'It is the student who brings fame and name to the institution by his outstanding performance outside the campus life,' he said and asked the students to prepare themselves to undertake the challenging tasks in the field of science, technology and social life after completing the studies.

He expressed hope that the team of management headed by the Vice chancellor Masood A Choudhary would endeavour to further strengthen the institute and give necessary boost to the academic activities and infrastructure development. Government would render all possible help to the University in this regard, he said.

The Chief Minister said with the coming up of two Central Universities in the state the competition will take new dimensions and the existing universities should take note of this aspect and prepare to take on any challenge.
