Kolkata: Icfai University, Tripura, organised a seminar on “Self Evaluation for Greater opportunities” for working executives and professionals on November 20.

The objective was to provide an exposure to the executives and professionals to best practices in self-evaluation for greater opportunities.

Over 100 professionals from different corporate firms attended the seminar at Rotary Sadan.

Abhijit Chandra, associate faculty member of J D Birla Institute of Management and also associated with IMT Ghaziabad as management faculty in marketing, was the key speaker.

“Self-evaluation is a process aimed at collecting and analysing relevant information about a very complex subject: you. This involves knowing the strengths and weaknesses, try to find out the opportunities and threats involved in pursuing the objective. The first step involves locating your broad area of interest. In doing so, you will be better prepared to generate a list of career options in accordance with who you are as an individual,” said Chandra.

He further said that many people make impulsive career choices based on the allure of money or because someone told them, they should go in a particular direction. After spending years in school, they may find themselves in a career that is found unfulfilling or less rewarding. Therefore, it is advisable that they should think about what they really want out of life, and out of their job. Well, everybody has different priorities, for some remuneration is more important, for some job satisfaction matters most. Unless and until a person is clear what he really wants from his job, he will not be able to do justice to himself.
