Indian Marketing Strategies for UK SMEs: IIM-A

Ahmedabad: The Indian Institute of Management, (IIM-A) has set up a training programme 'Indian Marketing Strategies for UK based small and medium enterprises (SMEs)'.

SMEs  includes telecom, information security, FMCG, safety, health and education services, pharmaceuticals, publishing and internet software have participated in the programme. The turnover of the units ranges about Rs 4-224 crore.

It's a new initiative and first attempt by foreign SME units to get trained at IIMA. The weeklong programme provides the kinetics of the Indian market to UK based SMEs before setting up their businesses in India.

'Initially we have been approached by the Mayor of London to offer such a training programme, after which several SME units joined in. The programme looks at training these UK-based SMEs who intend to acclimatize themselves with Indian market conditions. These SMEs are looking forward to increasing business between UK and India and desire to understand how businesses work here,' said Arvind Sahay, director of the programme at IIM-A.

The programme comprises of several sectors such as diversity of businesses, pricing strategies in India, venture capital and government.
